Maxi taxi

The maxi driver doesn't say whether
you can stop here or not
you ring the bell or rather
bawl in his ear, "Driver, HERE"
and at the next corner
he will veer.

In the heat of the maxi one will be tempted
to sleep
and miss one's stop.

When they pass, booming loud music
with children's ribbons trailing out of windows
driving erratically, one will be tempted
to shake one's fist.

The maxi taxi driver doesn't know or care,
he has many trips to make in the heat
and he wants to sleep too.
